Fringe field and DC field measurements
Fringe field and DC field measurements

IMEDCO AG is fully equipped to measure fringe magnetic fields. The probe is designed to measure DC fields of the kind generated by MRI equipment. Measurements are performed in three ranges 19.99 mT, 199.9 mT and
1999 mT. The values are shown in mT on a three-digit LCD. Either all three axes (x, y, z) or only a single axis is measured. The probe is connected to the instrument by a screened cable 1.5 m long.

The small dimensions of the probe 12mm x 12mm x 100 mm enable measurements to be made at points with poor accessibility.

The probe comprises three independent sensors of the Hall effect-type for detecting magnetic fields with separate connections to the basic equipment which evaluates them. This arrangement measures the effective values in all three axes in a wide frequency range. The probe is extremely robust and has a high overload withstand so that it can scarcely be damaged in every day use.

The calibration of the instrument is checked every two years in accordance with the manufacture’s recommendations and national and international standards.

Technical data of the tesla meters:

Directional characteristic: isotropic, three-dimensional
Probe type: magnetic field
Frequency range: static, 0 Hz
Specified measuring ranges: 19.99 mT, 199.9 mT, 1999 mT
Accuracy: ±2% of the measured value

Measurement scope:
Generally, the excursion of the 0.5 mT and 0.1 mT contours are of interest. Their measurement takes about 4 to 6 hours and the neighbouring rooms must be accessible. The measurements are entered in building plans and the points of equal field strength (e.g. 0.1 mT and 0.5 mT) joined to form the contours.
