Turnover in Mio. Euro
The curve above shows the development of IMEDCO’s sales between 2006 and 2009, but going back a little further, turnover has doubled over the period of the last ten years. The number of RF shields actually more than doubled, however, this was offset by a reduction in prices. At present, production is running at about 25 enclosures per month, approximately 300 a year. While magnetically shielded rooms (MSR’s) are averaging just 4-8 a year at the moment, the demand for magnetic shields is increasing, because there are new 3.0 Tesla MRI systems from which without additional shielding stray magnetic fields would escape. In addition, some countries (e.g. Italy) have issued stricter regulations limiting field strengths in third-party rooms.
The number employed has more than doubled over the same period. While many processes have been rationalised in production, more are involved in design, engineering and other services in response to increased demand for support on the part of the customers.
Our healthy growth of aproximately 10% per annum is expected to continue over the next few years as we extend our activities to new regional markets and the demand for modification of existing rooms rises due to the replacement of older MRI equipment.
